Memes, usually known as more properly as "memetics", is a way that information can be conveyed so that it's easily remembered. For most people though, "memes" end up becoming funny images, videos, or sentences that might convey a "mood" that's identifiable.

... Or sometimes it's just a cut of something out of context that's found funny.
